Natural Oils with SPF + DIY Sunscreen Recipe
Even though my name is Sunny, I’m totally like a vampire when it comes to sunshiny rays. I love me some vitamin D (sourced from the sun), but I know that too much sun exposure can cause liver/sun spots, dilated blood vessels, wrinkles, and skin cancer. Noooooooooo no no thank you. Sunscreen with SPF is essential, people, but it’s gotta be natural!
The Environmental Working Group (EWG) recently reviewed over 2000 sunscreens and over 257 brands and found more than 75% of the sunscreens contained toxic chemicals that can actually increase your risk of cancer. INCREASE! Doesn’t that that defeat the purpose of sunscreen?!
Toxic Chemicals Found in Conventional Sunscreen
- Para amino benzoic acid
- Octyl salicyclate
- Oxybenzone
- Cinoxate
- Dioxybenzone
- Phenylbenzimidazole
- Homosalate
- Menthyl anthranilate
- Octocrylene
- Methoxycinnamate
- Parabens
Did you know that there are tons of nut, fruit, and veggie oils that have naturally occurring SPF? Check it!
